I met my now husband when I was a sophomore in high school. I had always known who he was...because that's how small of a town we grew up in! An ex-boyfriend officially introduced us and Larry Don soon started dating my best friend! This of course only lasted a week or so, as most high school relationships do. So, he moved on to a couple more of my friends! Consequently, I knew a LOT about him before I really got to know him! The first day of my junior year, I walked into Journalism class and was greated by Larry Don! I wasn't even supposed to be in this class...but the teacher talked me into it! I sat in front of him, and my friend sat behind him. Needless to say, he heard lots of talking between the two of us! During the course of the first few months, I really got to know him (and maybe even flirted a little :) and soon developed a crush! Even going so far as to convince his girlfriend, who was my friend, to break up with him! We hung out a few times and I finally got the courage to tell him on msn messenger that I had a crush! He told me that he had a lot of things going on (i.e. All-State tryouts, college auditions, Calculus, and church praise band) and didn't really want to think about girls at that point. I was sad, but persistent! I decided I would wait until he was ready.
After a month or so, he finally decided he might like me too! He asks me to come over to his house and watch a movie (which is actually the room I'm typing this in right now! ha!) and we start "talking." In January, he asks me to prom and I say yes! On February 13, 2004 he asks me to be his girlfriend! After that, I started to wonder if I even liked him! Terrible, huh? I decided to stick it out until prom. Well, as it would happen, I ended up falling for him. On prom night 2004 we said I love you for the first time! At 16 and 18 we already knew we'd be together forever! He gave me a promise ring on his graduation night, and a few months later, headed to OBU.
That year while he was in college and I was still in high school was really tough on us. We weren't very good at the phone relationship! Still, he never missed a weekend where he didn't come home to see me! We made it through that year, and soon I was at OBU with him! This turned out to be an even HARDER year! But we survived that too and on July 15, 2006 he proposed!
We endured a few more hard times. One month later my grandma was killed. We continued planning the wedding and set the date for June 16, 2007. One week before the wedding, my step-dad, who I loved so much, was diagnosed with cancer. On our wedding day, he was barely able to stand.
We had a beautiful wedding and honeymooned on a cruise to Mexico! We are now over 3 years strong! Everyone said that honeymoon period wouldn't last....but I have yet to see the end! :)
